Serious time.

The other day I was talking to !Zilcho32 about crappy art, and he said something that really shocked me. He said I draw like an animator, and that he could tell just by my drawings despite me putting on a facade. It got me thinking, and ultimately made me go "what the heck?" and start looking into seriously getting into animation.

So I ordered the book The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams. Book is roughly 350 (give or take 20) pages. Recommended to me by many. There was one other one by Preston Blair, but after checking that one out a bit I decided to give the other one a shot instead since the Preston Blair book didn't quite get as in detail as I hoped. I got the Richard Williams book in the mail and began reading it.

Whoa...

Seriously, I had to force myself to stop.

From the moment I opened that book, I was immediately hooked. It spoke to me in a way text has never spoken to me before. Never has a text not bore me after 100 pages of reading in one sitting before this one.

I understood every word, and it was like my mind has been waiting its entire life for this exposure. This book, is my first art lesson ever (I'm self taught), and it completely changed the way I look at art, my drawings, and the content within'.

I always had an interest in animation in the past, but after this, I only feel encouraged to pursue becoming an animator.

Yea my artwork isn't the best, but like stated countless times, I don't even try. Now I feel like trying.

Once I finish this book, let's see what happens from there, eh?

Speaking of animation, that movie I wanted to make, I have a much better idea of what goes behind the whole animation thing now with studios and junk. The book covered that as well. If you really want to help in the project, I'd suggest looking up this book too... despite the fact that the movie is going to be bad on purpose. Afterall, even South Park gets it all right, and that show looks awful on purpose as well.

Kittens.
