GIMP doesn't suck. I can name suckier programs. And if it's quick, simple drawings done, I'd use MS Paint instead.

What's your problem with GIMP exactly? Moving pixels? Yes, I agree that it's a bit silly to cut and paste to move the area you've selected. Zoom in and at most the pen tool should fix all the actual drawing problems that I can imagine.

The Gimp is great for colouring but the layout is just stupidly inconvenient.
I like mtPaint for Linux.

I don't have Linux, I don't have mtPaint. No opinions about that.

Also, the crappiness of my drawing above was due to the fact that I frigged up my cursor settings in Linux itself, so I gave false blame.
