This is new concept art for this character I came up with named Joe, and he has a really cool backstory that I won't bother typing so you guys have no clue what the hell I'm talking about when I describe his traits, losing your attention in an instant unless the drawing itself has pretty little details that make the eye have to look at it longer to absorb everything, but still maintains the value of a McDonalds Happy Meal minus the toy so it's really just worthless anywho.
It's something I've done a lot in the past, but I've finally come to the conclusion that nobody, and I mean NOBODY... gives two craps about concept art of some guy standing there. If the viewer doesn't know the full story, they'll lose interest. If the person in the drawing is just standing there, they'll lose interest. If the character in the drawing is doing something that catches the eye of the viewer such as peeing off a cliff onto a hippo while in knight's armor with his retarded brother behind him taking a hit of heroin, then people will get curious and wonder what the big story is and come to you for it without you having to force feed it to them through crappy text nobody cares about reading in the first place!
Another words, if you're going to draw a new character and you want to introduce them to your audience, do us a favour and make it worth looking at. We don't care about some dude standing there. It's uninteresting and very self serving, only appealing to the person who drew it.
I know I'll be stopping. That's a fact! You should too! (And stop flooding my Inbox of crappy pictures of people just standing there!!)
I mean, for the love of something that probably loves a lot, people have this thing, it's really cool and special, and every person has it. It's called "Human interaction". Adding a tree behind a character just standing there won't make it interesting either. Why not put the extra effort into making like... your new dude actually showing off his hardcoreness or smartness against someone else?

Why do so many people mistake simply really liking someone as love? Love does NOT fade away, Love does NOT die out like a flickering candle in the wind, Love is forever.
Anyway, I also hate it when people draw out a character that does look interesting, and then types out an excruciatingly detailed back story that ruins the mystery of the character, and also focuses on the character too much to call it an actual story. And sometimes it says the stupidest things like
Blood Type: AB Favorite Food: Pizza
Is that vital information? Do I need to know this before I read more? And then When these people finally create a character that is awesome, they go nowhere with it, besides that one deviation.
I'm looking back to my old stuff and I'm rediscovering a buncha classic stuff I planned but never actually started. One was actually lost in grade 11 or 12 art class. I can't remember... but it finally came back to me. It was Radash Man! He was a dude in a radash suit, and he was the mascot to some grocery store which was competing with another crooked one where they end up killing the mascot because he really drew in customers... so they bring him back to life as a real radash!
Cliche, but at the time, I thought it was brilliant! A friggin' Radash!!
(I know it's spelled Radish, but I like the "dash" in it. )

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
